From their first date losing together at bar trivia, to their many adventures traveling, Chris and Sara have always known they were meant to be...
Chris, a nerdy Web Engineer, had grown up in Chicago all his life. He loves watching sports, throwing down in the kitchen, and a really good taco at 2am. He had a good life, but was always searching for someone to share that taco with…
Sara, a Colorado native and Sales Woman, ventured to Chicago several years ago. She loves traveling to exotic places, climbing mountains, and her dog Bailey. Her and Bailey always had fun together, but he would not be her one true love…
Being the trendy folks Chris and Sara were, they meant online. They started texting and talking on the phone more and more. She could not resist his charm and witty jokes anymore...she agreed to go on date.
This date was the infamous bar trivia night which the memory of losing still haunts Chris to this day. The night would not be a total loss as it ended in a perfect kiss. That moment started Chris and Sara down this path we see them today...happy, healthy, and ready to say I DO in Punta Cana.
For Christmas last year I handmade a “date jar” which had wooden sticks with various activities and date ideas on them - “Go to a baseball game”, “Have a picnic”, “Take a walk on the beach”, etc..For months we would pull out date night ideas randomly.
It was just another Sunday and I been cleaning up the house and had music on and Chris was being unusually interested in what I was doing. He asked if I wanted to go out that night. I thought it was a little random being a Sunday, but what the hell, I love our dates.
The Secrets Resort is one of our favorite places in the world! We have been twice already and toured other resorts in the Dominican, only to come back to Secrets. It is a beautiful resort with excellence beaches, food, and service. The drinks are always flowing and there are plenty of great day and night time activites to suit any taste. The best part is that it's Adults Only, but there it is connected to a SECOND resort which we will have access to!
Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana offers 465 luxurious guest suites, each featuring a king-size bed (or two double beds), full marble bathroom, furnished terrace or balcony with whirlpool, complimentary mini-bar and much more.
There are 4 room types to choose from. Sara and I have been to this resort twice so believe me you can’t go wrong with any room, but I’ve noted the differences between each. You can also view photos and room details on our other page or directly from the Secrets website. All the rooms are about the same size 570 sq feet - they are BIG with huge bathrooms and a really nice balcony or terrace.
Rooms will have a view facing the back of the resort or another non-focal point so you are just looking at some trees instead of the pool or beach. We stayed in one of these rooms the first time and it wasn’t bad. The balcony faced the service road so it was quiet since their were not any guests walking by.
Rooms will have a view of the pool area, and the center part of the resort. We stayed in one of these rooms our second time here. It was definitely a better view but that was really the only difference. Everything else in the room was the same.
Rooms will be on the ground level and will have a terrace that is right next to the pool area. There is a lazy river that goes along these set of rooms so you will have direct access to the pool from your room. This is nice option because you will always have your own lounge chairs and coming and going to the pool will be super easy. Only downside is it will have more traffic than the other rooms so it could be a little noisy during the day. But you’ll be out partying with us anyway, right?
Rooms will have a view of the ocean. We haven’t stayed in one of these rooms so we can’t comment on the view, but if you really want to check out the ocean from your room, I’m sure the view is great.
From dazzling days to evenings of magic – do it all or nothing at all. There are so many different ways to play. Float around in the expansive, free form swimming pool or catching a movie out on the beach.
Some of our favorite activties were the Circus Night, lounging by the beach with the drink service, and floating around the pool. There so many things to do at the resort, it is never a dull moment.
Indulge in an expansive array of international cuisine at one of our five gourmet restaurants and a wine cellar – reservations are never required. Or sneak away for a romantic meal in your suite or on the beach. Your Unlimited-Luxury privileges include all meals as well as top-shelf spirits. In addition, enjoy nine more restaurant options at neighboring Now Larimar Punta Cana.
24-hour dining options allow guests to enjoy late night bites at the Carnival Buffet. Or stay in and order room service. It’s all available at any hour day or night.

I would suggest waiting until 3-4 months out. Currently (at 6 months out) the prices are very high and some airlines won't even show prices that far out. We have booked our last 3 Dominican trips 2 months out or less. I'm looking frequently and if I spot good fares, I will let everyone know.
Formal inviations will inviations have been sent! You can RSVP with the enclosed card.
Yes. If you have never been to an all-inclusive resort before then bring your stretchy pants. You can drink and eat as much as you want. Keep in mind that just like any other bar or restaurant you should tip the friendly people who wait on you.
So dress to impress, but also dress for the elements (sun, sand and water). Anything you'd wear to a nice restaurant on a summer day is appropriate.
Yup. The Dominican is a really safe and friendly country. We have been here three times, both to resorts and in the villages. We never had issues or think there will be.
SUNTAN LOTION! Plenty of suntan lotion. Not only will you need it to prevent getting torched, but it is marked up quite a bit, so don't plan on buying any at the resort.
Men - Make sure you bring a pair of dress pants. These could be some linen pants or khakis. Jeans will be too hot! You will also need a closed-toe shoe - some sort of dressier shoe or sandal. Pants and closed-toe shoes are required at some restaurants.
Weather is beautiful. Expect 75-85 degrees everyday we are there.
About 4.5 hours.
We do not recommend drinking the water from the tap. All water and ice served in the restaurants and bars is purified and bottled water is provided to guests. Please be careful when venturing out of the resort.
